pub struct Prepared {
path: PathBuf,
temporary: PathBuf,
placed: bool,
stamp: Option<FileStamp>,
}Expand description
New bytes for a file, written beside it under a hidden name (which the sharing and the watcher pass over), yours alone, and on the disk, waiting to take its place; taken out if they never do. The slow part of a replacement, done before any lock is taken.
Fields§
§path: PathBuf§temporary: PathBuf§placed: bool§stamp: Option<FileStamp>The new file as written: the same once it takes the path’s place (a rename keeps its device, number, size and time).
Implementations§
Source§impl Prepared
impl Prepared
pub fn new(path: &Path, bytes: &[u8]) -> Result<Prepared>
Sourcepub fn place(self, was: Option<FileStamp>) -> Result<Option<Placed>>
pub fn place(self, was: Option<FileStamp>) -> Result<Option<Placed>>
The new bytes in the file’s place, when it is still as was says
(None: whatever it is now); else nothing is done and None returned (the
file changed since it was read, or went). Quick, no byte written: meant
to run under the lock its readers take. On Unix the old file is held
open across the rename, to overwrite it once it has no name
(Placed::finish); elsewhere it is not held, and never overwritten:
Windows renames a file held open only at times, and nothing there can
read zeros.
