Roadmap

Slices, each useful on its own. Built for one user first.

  1. The Porch (porch.md). Working: accounts found from their address, passwords in the keyring, IMAP sync with IDLE, code notifications, the Porch sorted and summarised in English and French, "Done for now"; from the command line and in a first Qt window. Senders checked by Sioul itself (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, ARC, reverse DNS), borrowed names set aside, blocking, account priority, HTML mail made safe, attachments opened after the antivirus. Next: the background service on its own, one card at a time, portals inside Sioul.
  2. The Outbox: Markdown drafts become mail with attachments; "waits for" links; sending by a deliberate key.
  3. Next (tasks.md). Working: CalDAV tasks with RFC 9253 links, edited line by line; the solver (topological order, loops said, the one next step with its reason, days with room, gaps after what was done); Now, list, board, calendar; capture in one line; the focus window and time spent; the day's weather; joy and someday; notes as a vault; links both ways between mail, tasks, events, contacts, notes, drafts and budget lines; import for agents; reminders before dates, once each, with the window closed too (reminders.md); what a day holds (capacity.md): four costs and a gain, said before and after, budgets learned from your days, estimates corrected by your record, the day's free time, heavy then light, the days around a heavy appointment lighter, even days, two silent slots of time for you. Next: splitting by AI, company, cues from events, admin windows as capacity. Open, waiting for research: your own good hours for the hardest and most anxious steps (criterion 31 of capacity-budget.md). Who declares them and how they move with an illness and its treatment, the time of day against fatigue rising through it, and hard first against a small easy start for ADHD are unsettled; working hours are not taken for good hours meanwhile.
  4. Portals (sites.md). Working: secure mailboxes, chats and other sites pinned in one persistent profile, logged in once; notifications accepted and kept for the Porch (or at once in real time); calls with microphone, camera and a chosen screen; sounds silenced per site; a link from the mail that announces a site; logins from Bitwarden, read by Sioul itself (no other program). Next: "file this page" into a project.
  5. Calendar: invitations by mail, .ics previews, deadlines found in letters.
  6. Contacts: CardDAV. Working: the map (OpenStreetMap; addresses placed once each by Nominatim, when you allow it, kept locally), a pin in each card, the map of everyone, pins opening cards; duplicates, on one card and between two cards, cleaned and merged, each change undone with one click for thirty days (client.md, "Categories and duplicates"). Next: changing a contact's photo here.
  7. Virtual Secretary, mode B (virtual-secretary.md). Mode A comes with slice 1's sync.
  8. Trust, the rest: Spamhaus, lookalike domains, the registry of genuine senders. Your own spam filter is built (spam-filter.md).
  9. Accounting (accounting.md, projects.md). Working: budgets, presets, reserves and their cover rules; the verdict at the period's pace, with a realistic end and, from three past periods, a range; a budget's ledger and its balance by day, week, month or year; movements added by hand, once or recurring; amounts read from mail and added as lines; projects, time and invoices; the papers wallet, with renewals reminded and planned (papers.md). Next: bank statements, currency conversion, the French reports.
  10. AI: companion, triage, drafts, MCP server (ai.md). The command line and the Markdown drafts serve agents from slice 1 on.
  11. Elsewhere. Working: Google calendars, contacts and tasks, signed in with your own key, what Google does not keep greyed (google.md); GitHub's issues and pull requests as tasks, off unless asked (github.md). Several devices sharing what only Sioul keeps, through a folder your sync carries, sealed with a passphrase, or kept in step with a Nextcloud by Sioul itself (database.md); plain files and a log were chosen over a database server (database.md, "Why plain files and a log"). Next: the gaps listed there under "Not built".
  12. Android, Windows and macOS. Working on Android since 0.0.2 (an APK on the releases page): the window on a phone, the doses reminded, the sharing, do-not-disturb with your other devices; calls and other apps' notifications screened, not tried on a phone yet (android.md). Windows and macOS: built and tested by GitHub at each push, packaged with each version, little tried yet (building.md).

More languages come with each slice (i18n.md).
